Black Friday espresso stack: machine, grinder, water, beans

Most people shop Black Friday for a machine and forget the rest. Buy in this order: grinder budget first, then the machine, then water and beans. Baseline prices checked on Amazon Nov 1, 2026; a Black Friday price under the baseline is a real drop.

The order that matters

  1. Grinder. Espresso needs a fine, even grind. A cheap blade or drip grinder will not get there on any machine.
  2. Machine. Pick for steady temperature and a 58mm or standard portafilter so tools fit.
  3. Water. Hard tap water scales a boiler. Mineral packets or a filter cost little and protect the machine.
  4. Beans. Fresh whole beans, medium roast to start. Buy small bags often.

Starter stack: about $861

A real espresso machine and a grinder that can grind fine enough, without going past about $900.

Step-up stack: about $1,759

PID temperature control and a quieter 55mm grinder: the setup most people never need to replace.

All-in-one stack: about $734

One box, built-in grinder. Easiest start, less room to grow.

  • Machine: Barista Express BES870XL (variants: B00DS4767K, B0GKQFHV6X), $699.95 baseline. Check price on Amazon
  • Water: Third Wave Water Espresso Profile, 0.635 oz (12-pack), $18.00 baseline. Check price on Amazon
  • Beans: Stumptown Organic Whole Bean Medium Roast, Hundred Mile 12 Oz, $15.89 baseline. Check price on Amazon

Wait or buy now?

Machines and grinders see the biggest Black Friday moves; water and beans rarely drop much, so there is no reason to wait on those. Watch the machine and grinder on Price Pulse and this week’s radar. One-screen version to share: the BF stack card. Full deal list: Black Friday espresso deals.
